About

Ross Tapley, Sonya Tapley, Samantha Tapley and Annmarie Boehm-Tapley (left to right)

Hi!  So glad you found us.  We are 4th and 5th generation beekeepers in the beautiful Muskoka region of Central Ontario, Canada - a stunning lake region surrounded by forests, wildlife, fresh water lakes, and wildflower fields.
Our story began many years ago in Europe.  After surviving World War 2, Annmarie's great-grandparents made the daring choice to make Canada their new home, without knowing anything about this country and not speaking the language.
Three generations travelled together across the ocean in a war ship that had been converted to transport refugees.  They brought farming and beekeeping experience that helped them adapt and thrive in this strange new land.  Settling into the Delhi, Ontario farming area allowed them to keep several beehives at their tobacco farm - providing honey to grateful family and friends!
Fast forward a few decades and hobby beehives were now being managed in the Bracebridge and Rosseau areas by Alois Gimpl and Joe Boehm (2nd and 3rd generation beekeepers respectively).
In 2011, Ross and Annmarie (4th generation) decided to turn a family hobby into
a business when local demand outpaced honey production, adding several bee yards in the Huntsville area.  Samantha and Sonya (5th generation) are our newest beekeepers and are involved in every aspect of the business, continuing our family legacy.
Our wildflower honey and hand-crafted products are sold at several Muskoka retail locations, three farmers markets, seasonal special events, as well as through our New Store in Dwight plus our on-line store for shipping throughout Canada.
In late 2023, our new building in Dwight was finally completed!  This has allowed us to move our honey production/retail store into a larger location, and also to expand into the wine industry with Honey Wine/Mead under the "Muskoka Mead" label.
We are proud and honoured to continue our family's beekeeping traditions
by caring for our honey bees with old-world respect blended with modern techniques!
